When I purchase picture books they are not for myself to read, but for my children or children I know. I did read this book and have to say it was such an adorable fun read for anyone. I loved the concept behind it. Plus for the parents with picky eaters out there, this would be a great book to get. The illustrations were wonderful and colorful and told the story well. As for what my children thought of it: my daughter sat down, read it straight through without stopping, and without any problems or questions. When I asked her what she thought she said she loved it. That's high praise from my daughter who is a very picky reader.

The Pea in Peanut Butter Allyn M Stotz Valerie Bouthyette 9780984589050 Books Reviews

Kailee's belly wakes her up one night making all kinds of growling noises. Maybe she's hungry. She goes downstairs to ask Mommy for something to eat and Mommy says she can get herself a fruit roll-up. Does she herself a fruit roll - up? No. Kailee reaches for the jar of peanut butter! She loves peanut butter! She hates that yucky green stuff that Mommy's always trying to get her to eat.

As she's reaching for the jar of peanut butter, the door slams shut. Who slammed the door shut? Why did the door slam shut?

Magically, the cans in the pantry come to life talking and singing to Kailee. In the cans' own way they show Kailee that different colors of food can taste good!

Will Kailee learn to like different kinds of foods?

Children will love Pea In The Peanut Butter by Allyn Stotz. In this colorful picture book, children learn from Ms. Stotz that it's not the color of the food that make it taste good. It's the food itself.

The colorful illustrations by Valerie Bouthyette are done in all primary colors and bring the story to life. This includes a mystery for Kailee's mommy to figure out. Why is there a pea in the peanut butter?

I highly recommend this delightful book. Parents will love it for showing their picky eaters that other foods are good too. Children will love it for it's magical and entertaining story.
I received this book from sent to me anonymously. However, If I am able to guess the correct name of the person who sent me this book I could be told that I had guessed correctly.
I still don't know who sent me this book, and trust me, I've tried.
However, I adore this story. As a mother and now grandmother I wish that I had had this story back when my 2 boys were young.
Talk about picky eaters!
Thankfully they both loved peas and peanut butter, and now I'm wondering if one of my son's wrote this book, or at least sent it to me!
This is an adorable story, and I'm planning on giving it to my precious grand-baby for reading.
Thank you to whomever sent it. I appreciate the book, and I wish that I actually knew who you are.
The Pea in Peanut Butter starts off with an excellent `kid grabbing' sentence "I love the super duper, gummy yummy, sticky lickin', and belly rubbin' taste of peanut butter."

Say this sentence out loud, it's just fun, and it's good children's writing.

The author, Allyn Stotz, created a delightful and engaging children's picture book.
The main character, Kailee, loves peanut butter. She eats it on EVERYTHING, from hotdogs to pancakes to cereal. But, she won't eat vegetables and only likes particular foods. Then one night before bed, her "belly "rumbled, grumbled, and twisted," causing her to go to the pantry to get some peanut butter.

With wonderful full page illustrations that are cartoonish and vivid, The Pea in Peanut Butter shows children that all foods can be delicious, even healthy ones.

Ending up locked in the pantry with dancing and singing vegetables and fruits Kailee begins to realize just how good these foods can taste and how beneficial they are as each one manages to make its way into her mouth.

"Now try me," said an orange carrot. "I can help you see better."

As most of us know, eating a well rounded healthy diet is important to good health. Teaching children good eating habits from an early age will give them a foundation that can last a lifetime.

According to Children.WebMD.com, "creating a nutritional home is one of the most important steps you can take to ensure the health of your child." The article goes on to explain the importance of parents making healthy food choices, thereby establishing an example for children to follow.

This healthy food foundation can help children avoid the ever-rising obesity epidemic in America.

The National Center for Chronic Disease and Prevention (CDC) reports that "childhood obesity has more than tripled in the past 30 years." And, children suffering with obesity are at risk for a number of long-term health problems including cardiovascular disease, sleep apnea, bone and joint problems, and a host of other chronic illnesses.

Along with creating and maintaining a `healthy eating' home environment, parents and teachers can use The Pea in Peanut Butter as a tool to enlighten young children to the delights of eating a variety of foods.
This is a cute book about how a color has no taste - encouraging children to try different foods. The illustrations are really cute, but it is not quality writing. My kids love peanut butter so I liked the idea of having a book about peanut butter - but it's poorly written. I cringe when my kids choose it for a story - but they rarely do. I wouldn't recommend it.
I bought this book for my cousins children who love to read. Colorful illustrations. Not too long a tale for a perfect bedtime story.
My grandsons aged 5 & 7 loved this book. It kept their attention. It's whemsical and fun! I know they liked it becasue they asked me to "Read it again - Nana"!
Not only is this book good for kids with prejudices against more nutritional foods, but it keeps the imagination engaged. This would've been the perfect way to get me interested in a more varied diet when I was a kid. Anything that got my imagination going got me interested. The little twist at the end gives the child the sense that they are in on a secret that only they know....how that pea got where it is. The book really captured me with it's charm and the fantasy element it has. The illustrations are great and help bring it fully to life. I recommend it highly!
