Freya is left heartbroken after her lover, Berend is killed defending his friends. She felt one day Berend would make her his mate and wasn't sure she'd ever find her happy ending.Mac knew Freya was his mate from the moment he saw her, even after Berend died he knew she would have a hard time seeing it so he persisted.
While out cutting down a Christmas tree an unknown grizzley shifter charges Mac, Freya, Nick and Rachel. The friends are able to fight him off but he'll be back.
A moose shifter is brutally murdered and his mate's gone missing. Mac and the Denali pack join the Healy town officials in attempting to locate the woman, who is assumed to be pregnant.
The grizzley contunyes to stalk and torment the pack members. While attempting to locate and stop the rouge shifter we get bits and pieces of updates regarding the characters from the previous book. Nina, Roark, Nick, Racheal and a tiny bit of Jack and Sloan.
I wasn't too happy with Berend the bear shifter in the previous book. I thought he was stringing Freya along (which he totally was) and I was equally as frustrated with her for being a willing participant.
I loved Mac instantly and sort of felt like he was almost too good for Freya. Mac is a good friend, loyal rave and kind. The perfect hero.
My only complaint was that I didn't really feel a strong bond between Mac and Freya no matter how much I wanted to. Just when I started to feel like something was sparking, Willow entered their relationship and (at least for me) it sort of thew cold water on things and it never seemed to heat back up.
I very much enjoyed this book as a whole and felt like it was a lot smoother than the previous book (the first in the series). I look forward to more of Sadie's work.

I love every book in this series. The second book was just as good as the first one. Can't wait for the next one in the series to be released.
Such a cute story, even with the bad guys doing there thing. The couple this story centers around is very unusual, and so meant for each other. Great book!
Recovering from the recent war has been extremely hard on Freya. Mac has known Freya was his mate from their first meeting but has let her grieve at her own pace. A new threat has appeared and it takes everything they have to resolve it.
This is the second book of a three book series by a very creative and compelling writer. In fact, these books could just as easily be part of an oral, folkloric tradition, told around a roaring bonfire. This very appealing aspect to Sadie Snow's books, in addition to truly endearing characters (with only a few exceptions) makes for very pleasant reading. I find myself wanting to wear the Alaska-appropriate clothing and attending the small-town life that Ms. Snow describes. More than this though, I want to know the people/shifters. They are trying to do their best, whether they represent wolfen truth, fox truth, moose truth, etc. My suggestion? Come join the fun!
You will love Sadie Snow's shifter books. Each story will have you glued to the pages.
Freya had lost her best friend and liver Berend the best shifter at the battle of McMarthy. She had thought they would be mates for life even though he had never marked her. Freya is a Fox shifter. But she still has loved him. But he gave his life protecting his friend Rachel who is a wolf shifter. Rachel had met and Mates Nick the Alpha of the Danali pack. During the battle a Moose shifter Mac took it in himself to protect Freya. He is part of Nicks pack. After the battle Freya decided to stay with Nick and Rachel at least until spring. Mac is happy about this as Freya is his fated mate. But can he convince her of that?. Plus the group's battles are not over when a Grizzle shifter comes looking for revenge!.
